Municipalities from across the country came together in KwaZulu-Natal to partake in the SALGA Games hosted by the Sisonke District Municipality. Teams participated in a total of 15 sport codes including netball, athletics, basketball, boxing, cricket, indigenous games, golf, karate, rugby, tennis, table tennis, dance, volleyball and soccer. It is the second biggest sporting event of this nature in the country, after the SA games. The main aim of the event is to promote social cohesion through sport and improve the life’s of the youth in the communities. The Games started over 14 years ago with 2 codes of sport, and have grown to where it is today, with more than 4 000 people taking part.
