“The release of this land is part of this administration’s commitment to building an 'opportunity city', in which the economy grows and jobs are created, particularly in areas that were previously deprived of development,” says deputy mayor and mayoral committee member for finance, Ian Neilson.

The properties on sale include six vacant erven in Atlantis, zoned for industrial purposes.

The release of these particular properties is in response to interest received from industrialists to establish or expand industrial activities in Atlantis.

Three vacant erven, zoned for business development in the areas of Strandfontein, Mitchells Plain (Tafelsig) and Macassar, are also among the properties for sale.

Eight vacant erven zoned for single residential purposes have been released and are located in Constantia, Kensington (three erven), Lansdowne, Mitchells Plain, Surrey Estate and Heathfield.

“These areas are specifically targeted in accordance with the city’s Integrated Development Plan objective to utilise, where available, underutilised municipal property to leverage growth and sustainable development in poorer communities,” says Neilson.

The official tender documents with full details can be obtained during office hours (07:30 – 15:00) from the City of Cape Town Tender Distribution Office on the concourse level of the Civic Centre, 12 Hertzog Boulevard, Cape Town.
