Zwelakhe Senior Secondary gets IT gear

Alfred Nzo Municipality does its bit for matrics

Learners from Zwelakhe Senoir Secondary School at the hand over of school material

Executive Mayor of the Alfred Nzo District Municipality Eunice Diko handed over five laptops, five projectors and five projector screens to Zwelakhe Senior Secondary School in Ntabankulu Local Municipality as part of the municipalities contribution to the education system.

The learner support material will be helpful to the school in preparation for the examination study period and beyond.

Addressing the gathering Diko emphasised that the handover of the material is a response to the President’s call for all sectors of society to play their role in improving the education system.

Meanwhile in his welcoming remarks Mayor of Ntabankulu Local Municipality, Cllr. Vusi Mgoduka, reminded students and community members about the role and legacy of leaders like Nelson Mandela and others who have laid the foundation for the democracy we enjoy today.

Mgoduka further called upon students to embrace the fruits of democracy that we enjoy today and they must be responsible citizens and safe guard the hard earned democracy.

Eunice Diko adopted four schools across the district in 2012 as part of “Adopt a School Campaign” and Zwelakhe Senior Secondary is one of the schools adopted. 

Meanwhile the principal of Zwelakhe S.S.S, Sylvia Mabetha Masuoa could not hide her appreciation for the support they have received from the municipality. Masuoa indicated that the Information Technology (IT) unit of the Alfred Nzo District Municipality has conducted lesson since 2012 and their help has been fundamental in the success of the students. Masuoa indicated that the support material will be   instrumental to support the class of 2013 and beyond.

Chairperson of the Student Representative Council, Asiphe Khuzwayo, appreciated the effort done by government and as students they appreciate the learner support material that has been given to the school.

Aphiwe further said this equipment will make their study work easy from now on and she further committed students of the class of 2013 that they will make a concerted effort to perform well during exams.
